General information about the walking plant tour:

  • All visitors must have a photo ID -- driver's license is fine, except for non-US citizens who must bring their passport.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes (NO open-toed shoes allowed), long pants, and dress for the weather with a light jacket that can be removed in the heat of the buildings.
  • Similar to airport security, all visitors will pass through metal detectors as part of the nuclear power plant security process. Most small metal objects (earrings, rings, buttons, belt buckles) will pass through the detectors successfully and may stay on your body. However, objects with more metal (shoes/boots with metal shanks, large buckles, loose change, watches, some jackets with large metal buttons or metal zippers) have to be removed and put in a tray that passes through an x-ray machine. Note, some under-wire bras (those that actually have metal wires instead of plastic) will set-off the detector, so please dress accordingly.
  • No cameras or cell phones are allowed in the plant. Most visitors leave those items in their vehicle during the walking tour. However, photos may be taken at the Science & Nature Center.

NOTE: This event is currently full, but email pd@swesnh.org (Jen Schelly) to signup for the waiting list. We are working to get more tour guides, so we hope to move the waiting list soon!
