Extended Richalie Griffith Bio:
Ms. Griffith has focused her career towards Geotechnical Engineering. She has volunteered for multiple deployments to both State-side and overseas assignments. In 2005, Ms. Griffith volunteered to deploy to Iraq. Shortly after her return, she volunteered to assist with the Inter-Agency Performance Evaluation Team (IPET) after Hurricane Katrina. Towards the end of IPET, she volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan.
During Ms. Griffith’s deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, she was responsible for reviewing scopes of work and preliminary and final design plans, preparing detailed technical review comments, developing original plans, design analyses and specifications. She also interprets, adapts and applies numerous guidelines, precedents, and engineering principles and practices. Ms. Griffith drafts technical specifications, design criteria and drawings, as well as reviews incoming directives, advises supervisor, and assures accuracy and completeness of information. Responsible for reviews preliminary and final design plans prepared by engineers of lower grade, inspection of construction sites, and participated in conferences.
While at her home station, Ms. Griffith works on Geotechnical Engineering issues, with emphasis on Dam Safety. Her experience is pertinent to flood protection and includes periodic inspection and instrumentation appendix of USACE earth embankment dams.
